  • Market recovering slightly this morning as we saw a decline in crop ratings in yesterdays report
  • A decline in the corn and soybean conditions surprised the market and added some concern as we are just now approaching the peak of the dryness/heat before seeing some relief into the first week of August
  • Some rumors circulating that China is back purchasing some U.S. corn 
    • amounts are not expected to be large but would be seen as a good omen for the market after some tension between the two countries was reported the end of last week 
  • Weekly Crop Conditions Ratings
    • Corn fell by 1 point to 64% good/excellent – still trailing average rating of 68% g/e
    • Soybean ratings fell 2 point this week to 58% g/e – widening the gap from the 5 year average of 65% g/e
    • Winter wheat harvest now 84% completed – slightly ahead of average
    • Spring wheat conditions fell another 2 points as they began their harvest – now sitting at 9% g/e compared to average of 65% g/e as the crop is now 3 % harvested
